Hello! We are Alan Cylinder and Chelsea Cylinder, a Father/Daughter film review team. We review new movies and periodically discuss classic movies of earlier eras.
A little about us:
Alan Cylinder is a film historian and former radio and print critic. He is also a film distributor who was recently responsible for locating two LOST silent films and helping to navigate their digital restoration through The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was previously co-chairman of the National Society of Film Historians and was recently involved in a high def restoration of a previously unavailable Fellini-scripted movie, Sensa Pieta (Without Pity). Alan is currently distributing movies to independent film collectors, schools and universities, and Hollywood directors.
Chelsea Cylinder is his daughter, and the beneficiary of watching great movies from her father's private film collection. She was exposed at an early age to the works of classic filmmakers, and counts Hitchcock, Wilder, and Preminger as her favorites. Chelsea graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. with Honors in Cinema And Media Studies and a double minor in Theatre Arts and Spanish (Hispanic Studies). While at Penn, Chelsea wrote and directed a documentary entitled Cinephilia: Is It Still Alive?, in which she studied her generation's movie-watching preferences and tendencies. The documentary was awarded the Best Thesis Prize from the department of Cinema And Media Studies at Penn. Chelsea is an actress, singer, teaching artist, and producer.
